Whips and sends at Pax Trax MX 🚀

Pax Trax is always a bit of a gamble with the dirt, but this session was hitting just right after the water truck went around. I wanted to get some footage that actually showed what it feels like to toss the bike around when you are comfortable. That first whip in the video came off a tabletop that usually has a nasty kicker on the inside. Most of the guys were staying middle to avoid it. I started timing it so I could use that kick to help pivot the back end out. If you watch my rear wheel on the takeoff, you can see it catch that edge perfectly. It looks effortless in the edit, but I was actually fighting a pretty stiff crosswind that wanted to push the bike the wrong way.

The main thing I was working on during these laps was my foot position. A lot of riders let their outside foot dangle when they are trying to get flat, but I am trying to keep my boots locked into the frame. It gives me way more control to pull the bike back straight before I touch down. My hands were pretty shredded by the end of this moto because the track was getting hard-packed and square-edged. I ended up going two clicks stiffer on my compression just to stop the front end from diving when I cased the occasional landing. This day was a good reminder that style usually follows a good setup. If the bike feels planted, the whips come naturally.
