MotoBros Okeechobee MX

MotoBros is out in Okeechobee, which is pretty much the heart of Florida moto country. It is one of those places that actually lives up to the talk you hear in the pits. You have two full sized tracks that they rotate every fifteen minutes. Most public spots just give you one main loop and maybe a beginner track, but here you get two distinct layouts that keep the day from feeling repetitive. There is a pit bike track too, which is perfect if you brought a 110 to mess around on between your real motos.

The dirt here is that classic Florida sand and clay mix. It is not just bottomless beach sand, so it actually holds a line and builds up some decent ruts. When they groom it, the surface gets really tacky and predictable. You can actually lean into corners without worrying about the front end washing out like it would in pure sugar sand. Both tracks have a good flow to them. One usually feels a bit more open and fast, while the other might have some tighter sections that force you to be precise with your throttle control. It makes for a long day of riding because you are constantly adjusting to a new rhythm.

If Kyle Swanson were out here training, he would probably be hammering the transitions and corner speed. Since the tracks alternate, you do not just get stuck in one lane all day. He would be looking at how the ruts develop in those clay spots and making sure you are staying light on the bike when the sand starts to get whooped out. It is a great place to work on your intensity because the tracks stay in good shape even when there is a crowd. You can put in a long moto and trust that the face of a jump is not going to be completely blown out halfway through your session.

This is a spot for anyone who wants a professional feel without an elitist vibe. The owners really put the work in to keep the facility clean and the dirt watered. You should definitely check their social media before you head out because they are good about posting updates on prep or weather. Bring plenty of water and maybe an extra air filter if it has been dry, though they usually keep the dust down well. It is worth the drive from just about anywhere in the state. Load the truck and get there early so you can get a good pit spot near the fences.
